Bone and Intramuscular Hydatid Cysts: A Rare Association

Background: Hydatidosis is a parasitic disease linked to the development of Echinococcus Granulosus larval form in humans. This anthropozoonosis characterized by many topographical and evolutionary aspects. Musculoskeletal hydatidosis rare, it represents only 0.9 2.5% all locations. Objective: aim this manuscript report rare case bone muscle location hydatid cyst show imaging contribution its positive diagnosis pre-therapeutic assessment. Method: We observation 61-year-old man admitted our training for right thigh mass, revealing muscular with concomitant iliac location. Result: Ultrasound examination shows an intra cystic lesion, Sartorius rectus femoris muscles, membranes inside. A simultaneous location, at ipsilateral bone, was fortuitously discovered on CT scan MRI exploration, which multicystic lytic lesion signal round daughter cysts examination. complementary X-ray pelvis classic "honeycomb" appearance bone. serology confirmed diagnosis. No hepatic or pulmonary localization demonstrated abdominal ultrasound chest scan. An anthelminthic therapy (Albendazole) started, patient candidate further surgical treatment. Conclusion: rare. The Hydatid osteopathy usually infiltrative, slow progressive, makes late compromises quality So, despite rarity; musculoskeletal should always be considered differential lesions endemic areas.
